Description from VIZ:
Megumi Amatsuka, a rough and tumble nine-year-old boy, always dreamt of becoming the "manliest man on earth." Upon receiving a book of magic from a sorcerer whom he saved from a group of local thugs, Megumi summons a genie in order to make a wish. But due to a sick twist of fate, the genie turns out to be an evil one, and Megumi winds up being the "womanliest woman on earth"! Six years later...Megumi is the most desirable girl in school, but deep within her hot-mama façade is the same trash-talkin', punk-stompin' boy.

In 2001 Cheeky Angel won the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen.
Kenn's Comment: I finished this the other day and I have to say I really liked it. I can see why people didn't quite like the ending, but it is a late 90's early 2000 shounen romance. I say that, but Love Hina had a rather decisive end. Anywho, it's by the same guy who did Kyou Kare Ore Wa, and Ocha Nigosu. When the story is in story mode, it's more shojou than shounen...until the comedy kicks in. Definitely not as emotional as it could be, but still a good read. It's easy to blaze through in a day or two. 20 volumes might put a bit of pressure on your pocket book though. It also has an anime adaptation that covered the entire story (all 20 volumes). Here's the first opening of the series.
