after the third world war, large contaminated areas known as "Blackspots" formed all over Japan. Large Walls were used to quarantine off these "Blackspots". In time, signs of inhabitance appeared within these wastelands. Among the survivors who had been abandoned inside the Blackspots, labeled as "those who were unneeded", came forth possessors of uncanny abilities -- Fire, wind, brute strength... they were defined by their supernatural abilities. Others, fearful of their powers, expelled them and named them - - - Needless!
Kenn's Comment: It's a great series and I'm quite fond of it. The current manga can be separated into two separate parts. Needless part 1 is pretty much what the anime covers until it separates and does it's ow anime original part. Needless part 2 is everything that comes after that.

The characters are all pretty darn fun. Blade pretty much is the GAR character in the series, though his weakness is a tad bit more exploitable than Superman and kryptonite. Yamada Cruz might not have powers like the rest of the cast, but he doesn't feel useless or needless (haha don't shoot me) in battles, unlike Felix (Legend of Maian) who more or less exists solely to unseal Felicia.

Another plus side is the great blips of comedy. You can really never expect when a hit of comedy comes in, but when it does it's almost always funny. To go alongside the comedy, Kami's Type-1-Diabetes-inducing moe chibi-art is absolutely moe-inducing. His regular art is great too.

Oh, and did I mention that he's more or less got everything planned for the series?
